SEISMIC RISK STUDY IN THE PROVINCE OF MURCIA

Entities participants: Broadway Malyan, Grupo de Tectónica Activa y Paleosismicidad (UCM), Grupo de Ingeniería Sísmica (UPM)
Financied by: Protección Civil de la Región de Murcia
Duration, from: August 2005  to: November 2005   Budget: 30.000 €
Principal Investigator: B. Benito

(Finished)

The project is organised in several phases that are carried out in parallel or sucesively:

- Seismic action characterisation, incorporating local effects.

- Seismic vulnerability distribution in each municipality of the Region of Murcia.

- Expected damage assessment for the seismic action associated with the 475-year return period.

Seismic risk is then defined as degree of damage for different building tipologies, leaving the estimation of human and economic losses for a future study.

Resultados of this project are the basis for the redaction of theCivil Defense emergency plan for seismic risk  (SISMIMUR), which has been officially validated by the National Comission on Civil Protection.
