From Nov 2nd through Dec 2nd, a workshop on Seismic hazard in Central America will be held at Enginering School of Surveying, Geodesy and Cartography of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).

From Nov 2nd through Dec 2nd, a workshop on Seismic hazard in Central America will be held at Enginering School of Surveying, Geodesy and Cartography of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). The workshop goals include the development of a new seismic hazard map of the region as well as capacitation and  information exchange activities. Six researchers from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica and Guatemala will participate actively in the workshop.
This activity is part of the SISMOCAES Project (Geologic and Seismic Studies in Central America and Learned Lessons for Seismic Risk Assessment in SE Spain), financed by the Spanish Ministry on Science and Innovation  (2008-2011 R+D+I Plan), which principal investigator is Prof. Dr. Belen Benito.
The qorhshop is organised by the Earthquake Engineering Research Group (http://www2.topografia.upm.es/grupos/sismo/?lang=en)
