Welcome to the website of the Research Group on Earthquake Engineering

The high existing seismic hazard is a subject of great social concern that gives rise a strong demand for studies for its analysis and proposal of mitigation measures.

The Research Group on Earthquake Engineering led by Professor Belén Benito comprehensively addresses the seismic risk analysis with a multidisciplinary approach to reach the quantification of the damage expected by future earthquakes. The members of the group develop their activity through the following lines of research:

  • Seismic Hazard Assessment and characterization of soil movement.
  • Land planning and urban planning in areas of seismic risk.
  • Modeling of the deformation of the crust.
  • Induced seismicity analysis
  • Seismic Risk Assessment.
  • Evaluation of exposure and seismic vulnerability applying remote sensing techniques.
